Why are we doing this? →

To start us off, let's talk about Why?, because it's the question central to all good design. Yes, we're a design club, but we firmly propose that design is a form of thinking more than it is a trade or skill. We strive to help people thrive, and we do that, mainly, through design.

Okay, that aside, let's be real for a hot minute. School has been bashing me in, and I'm sure many of you can relate. Something about not being physically in classrooms makes me never really switch into "school mode" and that's been taxing, to say the least. But, it got a little better recently using Notion, so I wanted to share what I know and hopefully, it brings you value.

Basis of Notion →

Notion works using pages and blocks. As a general rule, when you hit ENTER, it's a new block, if you click, it's a page. ⇒ There are exceptions to this but let's just roll with it for now.

This is also a new block.

This is a new block.

Oh, but Random is a new page.

Laser speed intro to basic Notion features →

You can Format Text with CTRL/CMD + [B|U|I] if you want, but you can also highlight text and the formatting options will show up. You can insert links, turn blocks into other types of blocks (we'll get into this later), and comment on blocks. There are a bunch of other cool formatting tricks that I'll use in this guide, sadly we gotta move on, but feel free to ask me about these later!

Notion embeds are super hot — check out the embed at the bottom o Design Challenges

Notion also works kinda like Google Docs, so any pages can be shared publicly with links and different tiers of access.
